G-I
Cornelis van Cuyck was born in Afferden on 17 July 1752. He was the son of Jacob and Mechtildis Sweijen.
He married Maria Agnes Stammen from Geldern on 10 October 1780. The marriage took place in Geldern and Cornelius moved there on that occasion.
Geldern is a town situated along the river Niers at approximately 35 kilometers from Afferden. The town used to be the capital of the County of Gelre. From 1703/1713 to 1794 Geldern was part of Prussia. From 1794 to 1814 the French occupied the town. It was a mainly catholic town and Dutch speaking until about 1870.
Cornelius and Maria had five children: Johanna Anna Mechtild; Johann Anton; Wilhelmina Mechtild; Anton; Johanna.
On 11 May 1797 he married Margaretha Terhorst in Geldern. They had one daughter: Maria Agnes
On 5 November 1798 in Geldern he married Anna Sophia Bolten (° 22 March 1764), daughter of Paulus and Sybilla Hoenmans from Aldekerk. They had one son: Johann Jakob (G-II). In 1830, when her son Johann Jakob got married, Anna Sophia Bolten was living in Afferden. She died in Geldern on 30 March 1840.
Cornelius died in Geldern on 1 January 1800. He was an innkeeper. He could not read or write.
G-II
Johann Jakob van Cuyck was born in Geldern on 28 November 1799. He was the son of Cornelius van Cuyck and Sophia Bolten. On 25 October 1830 he married in Geldern Dorothea Francisca van der Plassen (° Geldern 05.02.1801, + Geldern 4.12.1852), daughter of Hieronimus and Maria Anna van Boekel, living in Geldern at the time of the birth of their daughter. They had two children: Sophia Dorothea Alexandrina and Friedrich Heinrich (G-III)
He was sachverständiger.
He died on 23 April 1847 in Geldern.

Friedrich Heinrich van Cuyck was born in Geldern on 5 September 1834. He was the son of Johann Jacob van Cuyck and Dorothea Francisca van der Plassen.
After some years at the Stiftisches Gymnasium Düren (1849-1853), he studied medicine in Bonn (1853-1855), Würzburg (1855) and Berlin (1855-1857). He wrote his dissertation “De ulcere ventriculi perforante” in 1857. It counted 31 pages and was written in Latin. He publicly defended it at the University of Berlin on 18 August 1857.
Friedrich Heinrich van Cuyck moved to Krefeld, probably after finishing his studies in Berlin in 1857. This town is situated along the river Rhine at approximately 30 kilometers from Geldern. In the 18th and 19th century it was an important silk producing town and was therefore known as “Samt- und Seidenstadt”. In the 19th century the town underwent a huge transformation. In 1872 it became a “Kreisfreie Stadt”.
In 1871, Friedrich Heinrich lived in Westwall 27.
In the “Festschrift zur Enthüllung des Krieger-Denkmals zu Crefeld (1875)” we find that “Fr. van Cuyck” has been working in a hospital in Krefeld. The hospital was installed in a factory that used to be a “Seidenzwirnerei” in the Kronprinzenstraße. It was set up to take care of injured soldiers and civilians.
On 1 May 1879 he married Johanna Maria Franzisca Kniffler (° Krefeld 07.05.1858, + Sonthofen (Bayern) 09.05.1912), daughter of Carl Alexander Felix Kniffler and Emilie Adelheid Siegfried. Her sister, Josina Paulina Maria Bertha Ludovica Kniffler got married on the same day.
They had one son: Hans Friedrich Carl (K-I).
Friedrich van Cuyck died in Krefeld on 16 April 1901.
